Sustainability and Service
Learning to care for the environment and contribute to the communities around us.
Sustainability is one of St. Peter's stated core values, and service is expressed in the motto Ut Prosim — That I May Serve. The school's green Panchgani setting creates daily opportunities to connect environmental learning with responsible habits and community participation.

Sustainability on Campus
How environmental responsibility translates into verified routines, infrastructure, and student habits across our 56-acre Panchgani campus.
Water
Conservation, rainwater harvesting, monitoring and student awareness. Rainwater harvesting Phase 1 completed February 2026; Phase 2 commences January 2027.
Energy
Efficient lighting, renewable energy where installed and responsible use. Solar Phase 1 initiated, enabling approximately 50 KVA of electricity generated through solar energy.
Waste Management
Segregation, composting, recycling, safe e-waste handling and reduction of single-use items.
Food
Portion awareness, reduction of food waste and responsible sourcing where feasible.
Biodiversity
Nature walks, campus flora and fauna documentation, habitat care and outdoor learning.
Learning and participation
Eco clubs, projects, audits, campaigns and student-led improvement.
Community Involvement
Past community initiatives include computer donations, computer classes for local children, rainwear, footwear and sports shoes for athletes and clothing contributions. These are presented as dated past initiatives with partners, purpose, student involvement and outcome — not as continuing programmes unless verified.

Service That Develops Understanding
Strong service projects begin by understanding a community need, working with a credible partner, contributing appropriately and reflecting on what students learned about dignity, systems and shared responsibility.
Our Next Steps
A small number of measurable annual priorities are published and progress reported honestly — such as reducing food waste, improving waste segregation, documenting campus biodiversity or deepening a long-term local partnership. Targets are based on actual baseline data.
